Questions people ask on the first call

Still unsure? Call and ask. There’s no charge for the conversation.

What does the first consultation cost?
Nothing. The first 30 minutes with a lawyer is free, by phone or video, and there’s no obligation to hire us afterwards.
How quickly do I need to act?
Sooner than most people think. Many claims in Ontario have a two-year limitation period, some much shorter: injury accident benefits need notice within 7 days, and a fall on city property needs written notice within 60 days. Severance offers often come with a one or two-week deadline. Call before you sign anything.
What if I can’t afford a lawyer?
Injury claims and most dismissal claims are on contingency: we’re paid a percentage of what we recover, agreed in writing, and nothing if we don’t win. For family matters we offer fixed fees for common steps so you know the cost in advance.
Do I have to come to your office?
No. Most clients never need to. We meet by phone or video, sign documents electronically, and come to you if you’re in hospital or can’t travel.
Do you take cases outside Toronto?
Yes. We act for clients across Ontario, from Windsor to Ottawa, and travel for discoveries, mediations and court dates when needed.

Tell us what happened. We’ll tell you where you stand.

Free, confidential, and no pressure to hire us.
